Theme: Complete Trust in God.
Scripture: “I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.” — Psalm 27:13-14
Are you currently in a season of your life where like David, you feel as though every enemy has risen up against you like a flood? There may be times where being in the wilderness season or a pruning season, feels like your chance of survival is slim to none. Everything that could be a challenge remains a challenge and those who are seeking to destroy you are making every attempt to do so. We’ve all been there.
And while we seek covering and safety, we pray over and over again, asking God whether He plans to rescue us and when He plans to do so. Despite our prayers, it feels like our enemies just continue to press in and nothing seems to get better—-just worse. Our temptation in these moments are often one of complaining, speaking despair, and doubting every possible move of God.
Have you ever just meditated on Psalm 27 as David maneuvers through every emotion of fear, anguish, weariness, and downright despair? Yet still—–as in many of David’s songs/writings—-He reverences the Lord as his light and salvation; reminding himself of the never-changing GOODNESS of the Lord regardless of his circumstance. Are we like David when things are coming against us? Or are we leaning more into our focus of how bad our circumstances look instead of how good God has always been?
The incredible part of it all, is that David reminds us that God’s sovereignty and justness doesn’t change because of the moments where our enemies surround us. In fact, he mentions that even when our very own Mother + Father forsake us, God adopts us and takes us up. Therefore, there’s no need to worry about anyone or anything leaving us, because the ultimate Father never will.
As we read through the entire chapter of Psalm 27, we get a chance to witness David’s devotion to seeking God’s face instead of His hand—-even when His hand is needed. Why is this important? Well, because God wants our hearts to be postured towards Him for WHO He is and not for WHAT He does. Because He’s such a good Father, He’s always going to come to our rescue when we’re at a disadvantage, however, like any of us would want—-He loves when we love Him wholeheartedly simply because He is worthy of it. Not because He’s able to do everything we need.
So, with our complete trust in the Lord’s ability to perform—–like David, let’s encourage ourselves and believe that we will see the Lord’s goodness in our lifetime——-the land of the living. Let’s remain confident in the Lord and His nature.
“So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.” — Isaiah 59:19-20
Let’s remain strong. Let’s build our Faith through the reading of His word. Let’s remain close to Him through worship. Let’s have a heart of gratitude, even when circumstances are the complete opposite of our hope. Let’s wait on the Lord!
REFLECTION:
When was the last time that you prayed to God and simply thanked Him without a request? This week as we continue to go through our day to day responsibilities, let’s stop in between those moments to just Thank the Lord for what He’s done.
Like David in Psalm 27, let’s remind the Lord who He is to us—–our savior, our redeemer, our way-maker, our restorer, our healer, our provider, the Faithful One, and the One who laid His life down for us out of the most sacrificial love possible.
Thank you, Lord.
God is the God who sees. Stay encouraged.
God Bless.
